Hi, I’m Melodie (AKA That Crazy Tea Lady)—tea blender, herbalist, educator, and the kettle behind the curtain. I’ve spent years steeped in the world of tea and natural wellness, blending botanicals and building a business rooted in comfort, curiosity, and connection.

But my journey didn’t begin and end with tea. I come from a foodie family—one that thrives on flavor, creativity, and togetherness around the table. With my oldest son being a chef, the kitchen has always been a place of joy and experimentation for us. We love exploring cuisines from all over the world and crafting dishes that nourish the soul as much as the body.

When I opened Steep Right Up, I knew I wanted to share not just tea, but my love of good food with our guests. Over time, it became clear there was a gap in our area—especially for quality Afternoon Tea foods and services that felt special, thoughtful, and made with intention. So I rolled up my sleeves and launched The Wandering Kettle (still doing business as Steep Right Up - this is just the name we've given our mobile cart and catering services), the catering side of our tea-loving world.

What began as simple tea service evolved into a full menu of flavorful experiences:

Everything we serve is made from scratch using our own house recipes, prepared in a certified commissary kitchen, and designed to elevate smaller gatherings—the kind most caterers pass over, but we specialize in (think 40 guests or fewer).
